Video Introduction: Course Overview

Intro video: what is the chrysalis?

Transcript:

Welcome to The Chrysalis! An online course to help reboot your creativity and structure the tough work of personal change.

These six-minute videos can help if you’re caught in that place where you need to press the refresh button on your life and work. Self-renewal isn’t easy. I’ve pulled the most successful exercises from workshops and retreats - experiments in fresh, imaginative ways of joining body and spirit.

The basic movement here is inner work that eventually breaks out:

-We start in the cocoon, with quiet and grounding practices to touch in with our center and clear out the cobwebs, physically and psychically.

-The second section is about the real morphing stuff: getting in touch with our essence. You’ll find concrete tools for using breath and pulse and sense experience. We'll try out new ways of interpreting signs and symbols from the outside world and from the psyche. You’ll be challenged by somatic and artistic experiments in letting go. We'll revisit stale, outdated versions of ourselves to figure out wisdom we can use and patterns we're better off releasing.

-The third section moves us into wing-strengthening, getting ready to break out of the cocoon. We dig into experiments with time, pacing, sound, sense and habit. The key questions that govern this section have to do with managing your spoons: how you get depleted and how you can replenish the energy tank.

-All this work will guide you into the final section which asks you to literally map out a geography of where you’re going as you break out with new wings. In "Map to the Next World" Joy Harjo writes, "In the last days of the fourth world I wished to make a map for those who would climb through the hole in the sky..."

You’re free to honor your own timeline. You could take it slow, watching each video and practicing its exercises several times over the course of a week, or you could chomp into one each day and complete the whole thing in a couple of weeks. The design of the course is to offer a balance of freedom and structure that you can use in your own way. The Chrysalis is meant to be a user-friendly container for growth. I hope you'll join us.
